Happy New Year!!!!

January 1, 2009 - Thursday
New Years...

Yesterday started out like any other day... coffee, bagels, checking email, etc. I had not decided what I was wearing for the evening, had gone thru my closet & discovered that while I had several slips, panty hose & high heels I did not have a skirt or dress here (mental slap to the head - they must all be at my parents' house in Kansas!). My good friend "D" came to my rescue & offered to let me choose something out of her closet. To say we're not the exact same size would be an understatement... I did take a couple things hoping to make the work... but alas, it wasn't to be. I dropped Jerry off at the thrift stores so he could find a jacket... and in the process found me a $12.00 little black dress with sparkles on it! I wore some sparkly jewelry and to top it off I put on my wool coat with the big fur collar/hood (the Russian wool one that I bought in a thrift store in Colorado for $10.00).
We had a fun time last nite!! We went with friends to The Lodge at Wilderness Ridge (a country club). The Lodge looks like it sounds... built from logs, great wood floors, beautiful tile, massive rock fireplaces and a few "dead animals" (taxidermied elk heads & mountain lions). It was hard to not stare at all the wood & imagine what our cabin will look like! The band, "The Dubious Brothers & Sister Red", was great - as usual, the food was outstanding. It was just an all-around festive time. We stayed out too late (yes, 1:00 a.m. is past our bed-time!) and slept in 'til about 9:30 this morning.
I'm slowly starting to get around....made coffee & a bagel, let Skeeter out...let Skeeter in...checked email. (I have such an exciting life!) I boiled a dozen eggs to make deviled eggs for the football party this afternoon. We're going to a friend's home to watch the Huskers play in the Gator Bowl. Better get busy since the game starts in an hour!
Hope everyone had a safe New Years Eve!
